10 November 2020
The November Advocacy Review Meeting on 10 November will be on the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (LVD).
In the context of the comments received on CPR review in August, members highlighted the link between the CPR review for electrical products and the LVD. The Commission commissioned an Interim Evaluation of the LVD, whose report was published in December 2019. The report identified issues relating to the coherence with the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED) which create confusion and additional administrative burden for economic operators and market surveillance authorities. Some consumer organizations and national authorities consider the idea to merge both directives, which is opposed by some economic operators. Further unclarities are observed regarding the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and regarding the General Product Safety Directive.
The e-meeting from 13:00 to 14:00 CET on 10 November will inform on latest developments related to the LVD at the level of European institutions.
