EuroCommerce appoints new Director-General

EuroCommerce is pleased to inform that Christel Delberghe was appointed as new Director-General, effective from 15 November.

EuroCommerce

Christel brings to the job a profound knowledge of the sector and 20 years’ experience in EuroCommerce, currently as Executive Director for Competitiveness and Communication. She has built up a strong reputation across her wide network of contacts in the EU institutions and other stakeholders. She has used this to proactively engage members to make a positive impact and achieve results for EuroCommerce's sector in the most important and challenging issues facing it. Last but not least, Christel has an unparalleled passion for the retail & wholesale sector and dedication to the tasks she undertakes.

"Our sector faces some very significant challenges in the coming months and years. The massive investment needed to stay relevant, address the digital and sustainability transition, and a large volume of regulation, both nationally and at EU level, could affect retail and wholesale’s ability to achieve these changes successfully. All this needs a stronger voice for retail and wholesale, pressing home to policymakers the importance of our sector to the European economy, employment, local communities and, above all, consumers. I have already been working with Christel and Christian on ideas for the future direction of EuroCommerce. I am confident that Christel is the right choice to lead EuroCommerce through this, and make your organization even more successful in serving the members at this critical time." says Juan Manuel Morales, President of EuroCommerce.
