MESSAGE FROM THE EUEW PRESIDENT
Dear members of the EUEW Community,
After a long and memorable trip through unprecedented times for all current generations, I dare to hope that better times lie ahead.
To be honest, when I accepted the position of EUEW Vice-President and was looking forward to my years as EUEW President, I never imagined I was going to embark on such an elaborate journey.
I am sure that my predecessors would agree that I drew the shortest straw with the timing for my mandate as EUEW President. However, I would like to tell them that they would be mistaken.
Difficult, complicated and with unique challenges are words that do describe most of my mandate as President of the EUEW so far. Nevertheless, I can also describe my mandate as original, innovatory, dynamic, complex, and fast-paced. Despite the hardship EUEW had to endure during the past two years, this historical federation is now becoming a much stronger voice in the wholesalers’ industry, and this is happening also thanks to you. EUEW has embraced a much more sustainable approach to its overall functioning, and it has become one of the boldest European organizations, daring to go ahead with the organization of the EUEW Annual Business Convention in 2021, one of the very few, in person, networking events of the industry this year. EUEW is also part of an ecosystem that currently delivers the precious fruit of working closer together with our members and our peers. At present, EUEW has a lot more supporters, friends, and partners than ever before and the relations built are much closer and much more enduring. All these developments are the result of the contribution and determination of the members of the EUEW Presidium, EUEW Board of Directors and EUEW Advisory Council to keep this organization strong. The result, an even stronger EUEW than anyone had hoped for, with business that really catches up rapidly in spite of headwinds such as malfunctions in the supply chain and high inflation.
Although I am slowly preparing for the second part of my mandate, my intention is to continue to enjoy what is left with all that might come, good or bad. I am prepared for it. And this message is meant to reassure you that EUEW is stronger and more determined than ever to continue this successful path and so am I.
Before I proceed to my final words, I would like to welcome my dear colleague Eric Piers on board, as the new Secretary General of the EUEW. Being already very busy with his own work as part of the Belgian national association of wholesalers, Eric has offered to lend the EUEW a hand. This is a decision for an initial period of 6 months, until a more permanent solution is found. However, given the experience of Eric in the industry, I am sure that these 6 months will be enough for him to leave a personal print and make a difference.
Looking forward to meeting you all in Barcelona!
Message from the EUEW Secretary General
Dear members of the EUEW Community,
I am pleased to be addressing you in my new role as Secretary General of the EUEW. Since I’ve been working with many of you in different events and projects of the EUEW, I feel like I know most of you and therefore allow me to call you friends.
As you probably know, I accepted this role for a limited period of time, until a new Secretary General is selected. I would like to thank the President and the members of the Presidium for the confidence giving me this opportunity. I feel very confirmed that my long-term collaboration and experience with this industry will be a strong base on which to build further partnerships and projects for the EUEW and I see this opportunity as a personal challenge.
This short period of time, probably 6 months, is not a very long time to start and finish major projects, however, I do have some personal objectives for this initial period of collaboration with EUEW:
Offer the EUEW more stability until a new Secretary General is selected
Work towards continuously supporting EUEW to remain the strong voice of European Electrical Wholesalers
Start working on a new strategic plan for the EUEW for the following years
Start implementing the new organizational structure of the EUEW and provide all necessary support for a very successful first year mandate
Having shared my short-term vision of collaboration, I look forward to start working with the Presidium, the Board, the Advisory Council and with all of you on keeping EUEW strong in this challenging context.
Looking forward to welcoming you all in Barcelona, in my new role!
Updates about the EUEW Annual Business Convention
Esteemed EUEW Community,
I am really looking forward to welcoming all EUEW registered delegates to Barcelona next month, at our first Annual Business Convention since 2019.
We now have more than 250 participants from 20 countries representing over 120 companies.
This year, we have the pleasure to host big delegations from several countries: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, with the kind support of the members of the EUEW Board of Directors and the valuable contribution of the EUEW Members of the Advisory Council.
Same as in past years, the success of the EUEW Annual Business Convention this year and its high standards of excellence are maintained with the priceless support of our new and returning partners:
There is some good news to share in respect to the COVID situation in Spain as well. The situation has significantly improved to the point where the authorities recently lifted some of the previous restrictions. However, I would like to assure you that we will be carefully observing all measures in place at the time of the convention.
In case you didn’t have a chance to register for the EUEW 2021 ABC yet, you can use this link and still register. We are very happy to be receiving new registrations almost every day, still. EUEW has prepared some very engaging presentations on hot topics in our industry such as sustainability, circular economy, data and digitalization and the supply chain.
This year, we have our peers joining us in offering you through-provoking information and data to take back to your companies. ETIM, Europacable, EuropeOn and CECAPI are all preparing to introduce themselves to the EUEW community and to offer you a chance to interact with them directly. And, as usual, we, at the EUEW, did also prepare our share of surprises.
Lastly, I want to use this occasion to introduce you to my trustworthy team at the EUEW Bureau: Ana Iacovici, Valentina Tudosa, Lucian Linte and Vlad Nicolaescu. They are the people you talk to every day, they are the ones solving all pending requests and they are the ones offering me and the EUEW the necessary support to make the EUEW Annual Business Convention the emblematic event that it is today for the electrical wholesalers’ industry.
We will all be present in Barcelona to offer you further support on site, and we all look forward to meeting you there, very soon!
Looking forward to November!
