Dear friends,
Our association has accepted to organize the next General Assembly of the
EUEW. Therefore it is my responsibility as chairman, but in reality my
pleasure, to inform you about the preparation of this event.
Our goals are clearly defined: we want to do
more in less time. More Business contacts, more valuable content, but only
one conference day.
By means of this "EUEW NEWS" you will get at least every two months an update on this
event. We shall mainly focus on the working programme but
we will also keep you informed about the sponsors, the registration and the
social programme... This way you will not only be welcomed to Brussels but
you will also become aware that if you are in our Business, you must be
in Brussels on the 6th of June 2008.
We hope to meet you in the heart of Europe next year!
Kind regards,
Christian Van Wallendael
Chairman ICGME

For the organizational part of the GA in Brussels we propose a new formula:
- It will take only one day (not shorter but more condensed).
- It will be cheaper and more efficient.
- It will be mainly professional oriented.
Our main goals are to give you good opportunities to meet other people from your business in an informal way and to provide you with useful information for your business. |

Friday the 6th of June 2008
General Assembly
Main theme
Europe, the main player in the changes that influence our businesses today and tomorrow.
|
| |
|
|
|
Future directives, standards and rules which will influence our business
During the General Assembly in Brussels in 2008 we shall try to find out what
are the most important changes that will affect our business in the coming years.
These changes can be the result of new directives, reviews of existing
directives, new standards, changes in the political views and so on.
We will start with:
- the upcoming directives or transpositions in national laws,
- the changes in standardisation,
- the main political changes.
|
|
|
|
Europe, the main player in the changes that influence our business today and tomorrow
What are:
- the opportunities,
- the threats to our business?
How do professionals who are not in our business see this? A debate to clarify
these issues.
After that we have an idea of what is coming we shall convert this knowledge in
business opportunities and threats.
We can imagine different players on the market have different views on that. For
that reason we shall organize a debate between manufacturers and wholesalers
trying to find a common view or at least a better understanding of the elements
that motivate the differences.

- The heartbeat of Europe.
- Political and commercial centre.
- Easy to get to by air, road and railway.
- A leading conference city.
- Home of the European Commission (main player in the changes affecting our business today).
- Home of over 1700 international associations (EUEW, ELC, CECAPI, CELMA, EUROPACABLE, CECED and many others).
- 1000 press correspondents and most of the European lobbying industry.
- 60 million Europeans live within 300 km and 2 hours of Brussels.
Brussels is the main player in the changes affecting our business today. It is not a coincidence that most of the European associations representing our business partners are established in Brussels: ELC, CECAPI, CELMA, Europacable, CECED, and last but not least the European Union of Electrical Wholesalers.
